ENERGY EFFICIENCY

When energywise compared home heating running costs, heat pumps came out the cheapest, with a wood burner coming second, and a LPG gas heater was the most expensive.

Heat pumps ranged in costs from 3-15 cents per unit of KWh of heat released.  To be on the bottom end of this scale it is very important you size the appropriate heat pump and use a reputable brand with excellent star ratings.

How to get the best heat pump for you?

It is best to look at the star ratings.  Simply put the more star ratings the more efficient the heat pump.

Knowledge and experience in this area does help, because some heat pumps struggle to perform at cold outside temperatures just above freezing point.  Varcoe is great at offering advice in this area due to our long history in the business.
