Purpose

• To carryout successful installation of new and retrofit electrical circuits and sub circuits for various HVACR equipment through to completion. Reporting to the operations manager, the Electrician’s primary responsibility is to ensure all electrical works are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.

• Ensuring installations are completed as detailed in job notes or unless otherwise require to meet standards and regulations.

• As a role model for Varcoe’s values, you will be responsible for mentoring younger members of staff and encouraging high level of performance and aptitude.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Management of Output:

• Determine the right material needed for installation work by pre-measuring jobs

• Receive all materials and equipment required for each job, confirm and load them into company vehicle

• Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time as instructed by management

• Ensure company health and safety requirements and procedures are followed and adhered to at all times

• Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with both superiors and co-workers

• Obtain and maintain required certifications

Installation & Service Performance:

• Ensure job standards match Varcoe’s standards and are of a high level of customer satisfaction

• Perform installation of HVACR related equipment following company policies and manufacturer’s specifications

• Perform installation of copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering

• Perform installation of flex and sheet metal duct systems in light commercial and residential buildings

• Perform testing and commissioning of various HVACR equipment to manufactures and industry best practice

• Study blueprints, design specifications, or manufacturers’ recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and to ensure the proper installation of components

• Maintain ability of correctly using appropriate industry specialist equipment i.e recovery machines, welding kits, meters, analysers etc. 

• Maintain ability of correctly using and maintaining hand tools i.e. drills, grinders, saws etc. 

• Ensure all paperwork needed for each job is accurately filled out and submitted as per company procedures

• Advise others on issues related to repairs, installation, or equipment design.

• Perform testing and diagnostics to various HVACR equipment as per company and industry standards and regulations

• Preform or carryout preventive or general maintenance procedures to various HVACR equipment.

• Conduct repairs to various HVACR and mechanical equipment

• Test electrical circuits and components for continuity, using electrical test equipment 

• Read and interpret electrical and controls schematics and wiring diagrams

• Record and report all faults, deficiencies and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders

Vehicle Management:

• Ensure assigned company vehicle is kept clean and tidy

• Ensure staff vehicle policy is adhered to at all times

• Advise management of any incidents or accidents as soon as practicable   

• Assist management with renewal of WOF, RUC for vehicles
